The day began with bridal preparations at Little Trefusis, a charming cottage nestled in the idyllic Cornish countryside. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as Amy and her bridesmaids got ready for the big day. The morning light streamed through the windows, providing perfect natural illumination for capturing candid moments of laughter and anticipation. Amy's elegant dress hung on full show in one of the bedrooms, poised to transform her into the stunning bride she would soon become. Every detail, from her bouquet - a delicate mix of seasonal flowers - to the rustic charm of the surroundings, was meticulously arranged.
The bridal prep was a delightful affair. Amy’s mother helped with the final touches, their shared smiles reflecting years of close bond and affection. The bridesmaids, dressed in trendy sage green, added a touch of whimsy to the morning, their joy and camaraderie setting the perfect tone for the day ahead. Each click of my camera aimed to capture these fleeting, precious moments - the loving glance, the shared joke, the deep breath before stepping into the dress.
The church service in Mylor was nothing short of magical. The historic church, with its towering spires and timeless architecture, provided a magnificent backdrop for the ceremony. James, looking dapper and slightly nervous, awaited his bride at the altar. As Amy walked down the aisle, arm in arm with her father, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. The sunlight filtering through the stained-glass windows cast a kaleidoscope of colours across the congregation, creating a heavenly atmosphere that matched the couple's blissful expressions.
The reception was held in a marquee on a family friend’s field overlooking the Mylor Creek estuary. The panoramic views were simply breathtaking. From this vantage point, one could see the serene waters of the estuary and the lush greenery of the surrounding countryside—a perfect setting for a celebration of love. The marquee was adorned with bulb lights and floral arrangements that echoed the wild beauty of Cornwall. It was a scene straight out of a fairytale.
As the sun began to set, mixed with questionable clouds, Amy and James shared their first dance as a married couple. The guests joined in, and the field was soon filled with laughter, dancing, and the sound of clinking glasses. The speeches were heartfelt, with friends and family sharing stories that highlighted the couple’s journey and the deep love they have for each other.
Capturing Amy and James’ wedding was a true honour as a Somerset wedding photographer. The beauty of Cornwall, the warmth of their families, and the undeniable love between the couple made this a day to remember. Adding to that, feeling grateful for the bacon baps the day after as some of the bridal party took for an early morning swim to hopefully feel refreshed from the heavy night before.
